Anantnag, December 09: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today reviewed the status of formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPE) scheme in the district.
The aim of the meeting was to increase the number of successfully disbursed loan cases and review the feasibility of establishment of successful result oriented units in different products like honey, walnut, fisheries etc.
The DC said that the district has a lot of agri-based potential and the focus should be on creating awareness, widely publicizing the guidelines, imparting training, and creating a hassle free credit disbursal process. He said that the scheme is being implemented through one district one product approach and the product for Anantnag is trout fish.
He said that with effective implementation of the scheme, the trout fish from Anantnag can be exported in the international markets. He said that there are already various success stories in the district and there has been an increase in the entrepreneurial ventures related to trout farming in the district.
Various cases for sanction were discussed during the meeting and the DC directed the concerned line departments to expedite the process of awareness programmes, identification of progressive entrepreneurs, provide economic and moral support to them and publicize the guidelines.
The officers of the line departments gave the brief information with regard to implementation of the ODOP and success achieved in this regard.
The scheme aims to provide financial, business and technical support for formalization and upgradation of existing and new micro food processing units. In case of existing units, the unit must be unincorporated with an employment of less than 10. For new micro food processing units, the unit must be in the same sector as the decided product for the district. Only one family member can avail the benefits of the scheme.
The scheme adopts a two pronged strategy providing credit linked subsidy support and capacity building/ training programmes for the beneficiaries. Under the credit linked subsidy support, the owner must contribute 10 percent of the financial cost and the rest will be financed by the bank once the DPR has been accepted by the district level committee.
It is in place to mention that 537 units have been allocated to J&K under the scheme. A total of 35 percent subsidy with the ceiling of Rs 10 lakh per Unit will be provided for strengthening the existing units and the new units of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.
The meeting was attended by Director research SKUAST, CAO, CHO, CPO, Functional manager DIC, AMM officials of fisheries, Bank, NABARD and prospective beneficiaries.
