Ramban, December 06: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam today chaired maiden meeting of District Level Task Force (DLTF) Committee on the implementation of schemes of the Mission Youth initiative of the Government in the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal; GM, DIC, AD Employment, DO, KVIB and other senior officers attended the meeting.

At the outset, Officer on Special Duty to Mission Youth J&K, Anoop Sharma gave a detailed presentation on the objectives envisioned under Mission Youth and relevance with respect to socio-economic development of the district.

While elaborating the schemes, the OSD said that Mission Youth is an Apex body of the government for youth engagement and outreach in J&K. He said its core agenda is positive engagement of youth for overall well being of society and to make them stakeholders in the development of the Union Territory.

After threadbare discussion on wide range of initiatives under the Mission Youth, including promotion of self employment through various  schemes, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to implement the schemes related to their respective departments including Mumkin, Tejaswani, Tourist Village Network, Skill Development, SAHYTA, AVSAR, PARVAAZ, promotion of Youth Clubs, Holding Talent Hunts and Mega Sports events to give positive direction to youth energy besides special initiatives for de-addiction, self employment of specially abled youth, Scholarship schemes like LG Super-75 (Boys and Girls), Sustainable Initiatives like Green Youth Alliance.

Taking review regarding implementation of employment generation schemes, the DC issued strict directions and set deadlines for the Rural Development Department, Employment Department, Sponsoring Agencies and Banks to ensure early start of   self-employment units of 5 identified youth in each Panchayat besides covering maximum youth under various other self employment schemes as per the directions of Lieutenant Governor.

Meanwhile, the OSD also spoke in detail about the procedure for availing the benefits under the schemes as well as how Mission Youth aims to be a one-stop solution for fulfillment of aspirations of youth in J&K.

He urged all the concerned line departments to put in sincere efforts to facilitate the youth in availing benefits under the Mission Youth. He stated that it is the need of the hour that youth energy is channelized and directed for socio-economic development of the district.
