Srinagar, December 06: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired an Officers meeting convened to review the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored scheme to provide potable drinking water to every rural household here.
During the meeting a comprehensive discussion with regard to implementation of JJM was held wherein it was informed that the main aspect of the scheme i.e Har Ghar Nal Se Jal has been almost completed cent percent.
The DC took stock of the progress made by the district in implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, and plan and activities proposed for the remaining months of the financial year as well as the strategies to achieve the set target.
He also discussed the proposals for Rain Water Harvesting, Ground Water Recharge and Grey Water Management for reuse of waste water under JJM.
The DC was further informed that the process of Rain Water harvesting and management of Gray water is under progress. While Pani Simiti Committees at Panchayat level have been constituted which plays a key role in planning, implementation, management, operation and maintenance of village water supply systems, thereby providing clean tap water to every household on a regular and long-term basis.
With regard to IEC campaign, the DC was apprised that against the set target of erecting 1450 hoardings/boards over 150 have been installed at different locations in the district
On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned Officers to submit the DPRs regarding Rain Water Harvesting, Grey water Management and Mapping of resources so that further activity plan is formulated. He asked the Officers to work in a coordinated manner for smooth execution of Government works as per the norms and ensure judicious utilization of funds while implementing the scheme.
The DC also directed for conducting a Training session under Pani Simiti during the coming Block Diwas.
The Joint Director Planning, Srinagar, Mohammad Yaseen Lone and other concerned Officers were present in the meeting.
