Budgam, December 03: On the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam in collaboration with ELFA International (NGO) and Wheelchair Cricket Association J&K today organized an awareness programme on ‘Rights of disabled  persons’ at Town Hall Budgam.

The programme was attended by Malik Shabir, Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, Fozia Paul Secretary DLSA Budgam, Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam, Joint Commissioner SMC, Dy. SP Budgam, Executive Officer Municipal Council Budgam, PLV’s, disabled persons along with their families and official staff of DLSA Budgam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Judicial Magistrate said that such kind of programmes boost the morale of the specially abled persons and should be organized with the participation of general public. He requested the district administration to take the necessary steps in building of ramp system in Government offices for easy accessibility of these specially abled persons.

Secretary DLSA said that DLSA Budgam is always available for such specially abled persons in case they are facing any difficulty in their day to day lives. She also apprised the gathering about basic rights and schemes available for disabled persons in legal institutions as well as in other departments.

She also said that a person having any kind of physical disability should not be treated as disabled person rather disability lies in the mentality of the person who think so.
