Jammu, November 25: NAHEP-IDP-SKUAST-Jammu, under the guidance of Prof. J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, organized Guest-lectures for the students on the themes ‘Nutrient Management in Protected Structure and Functions & Deficiency Symptoms of Secondary and Micronutrients’.
The lectures were delivered by eminent soil scientists Dr. Narendra Kumar Sankhyan, Prof. & Head, Department of Soil Science and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Principal Scientist, Department of Soil Science from HPKV-Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Sankhyan sensitised the students about the importance of greenhouse, crop cover under greenhouse, plastic tunnel, plastic mulch, crop under the shade net house and nutrient management under protected cultivation.
Dr. Pardeep Kumar highlighted the importance of micro & macro nutrients and their deficiency symptoms.
The Students showed keen interest in the lectures and raised many queries which were answered satisfactorily by the experts.
The main objective of the lectures was to equip the students about National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF). Over 40 students attended the lectures.
Earlier, Prof. B C Sharma, PI of IDP-NAHEP & HOD, Agronomy gave an overview to the students about the objectives of the event. Prof. Vikas Sharma, Co-PI, IDP-NAHEP & HOD Soil Science offered formal welcome address to the eminent guests. The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Dr. Vivak M Arya and Dr. Anil Bhat, associate scientists IDP-NAHEP. Vote of thanks was delivered by Magandeep Kaur, young professional, IDP-NAHEP SKUAST-J.
