Nowshera, November 20: A Plantation drive, under J&K Green Drive was held on the eve of Gurpurav at Gurdwara Thandapani. A number of Medicinal and Fruit Plants were planted by devotees to mark the celebration of Gurpurav.
The plants were also distributed among the devotees.
Rangeel Singh, Block Forest Officer Sunderbani held a special counter in the premises of Gurdwara from where the devotees collected plants of their choice. The devotees lauded the efforts of the Forest Department for conducting such drives at religious places. The members of the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee also supported the efforts of the Forest Department.
Rakesh Verma, Range Forest Officer, Sunderbani said that such drives are conducted on special occasions so that maximum number of plants are to be planted.
The main objective of such drives is to sensitize people about the importance of trees. The objective of J&K Green drive is to reach out to maximum number of people by conducting plantation drives. The whole drive was conducted under the close supervision and directions of Vivek Verma, Conservator of Forests, West Circle Rajouri and Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer, Nowshera.
