Ramban, November 18: Social Welfare Department Ramban today released an amount of Rs.28.93 lakh to provide scholarships to 3062 students under the J&K Government Sponsored Scheme.
According to District Social Welfare Officer, Wahid-ul-Rehman, Rs. 18,25000 scholarship has been sanctioned in favour of 1950 students belonging to SC category and Rs. 10,68000 to 1112 students of OBC category studying in classes 1st to 8th in different schools of the district Ramban.
He further stated that the scholarship scheme envisages encouragement of children of SC and OBC category to pursue and continue studies. It has also helped in bringing down the dropout rate of such children in educational institutions.
