Poonch, November 13: District Legal Services Authority Poonch, in Collaboration with district administration organized a mega Legal awareness/Service Camp under ‘Pan India Legal awareness and outreach campaign under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ here at Dakbunglow Poonch.
The camp was inaugurated by Chairman DLSA Ashok Kumar Shavan in presence of Chairman, Legal Service Committee, Madan Lal (CJM); Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vinod Kumar; Additional District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Abdul Sttar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr, Basharat Hussain; DLSA Secretary, Wajahat Hussain Kazmi; Special Mobile Magistrate, Sarfraz Nawaz; District Mobile Magistrate, Shafiq Malik; Assistant Commissioner Development, Rajesh Lakhan besides other district officers were present.
The chairman DLSA, Ashok Kumar Shavan inspected nearly 16 stalls which were installed by different Departments to spread awareness regarding their schemes through banners and pamphlets.
At the outset, Secretary DLSA Wajahat Hussain Kazmi, in his welcome address, explained in detail the concept of Legal awareness and rationale behind organising such camps.
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Madan Lal, Chairman Tehsil Legal service committee also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the various initiatives undertaken by courts to provide legal aid to the aggrieved downtrodden and Petitioners. He said that the purpose of this programme was to spread legal awareness among the people living in the far flung area of the district.
On the occasion, Financial assistance as education and death assistance @ Rs.5.22 lakh was provided to 28 eligible construction workers under Labour Department scheme, while Rs 2.50 lakh each were provided to five beneficiaries under PMAY, Free Ration items to four beneficiaries under PMGKAY, 20 Golden Card under Ayushman Bharat and 30 School Bags and kits to students under ICDS scheme.
In his address, the Chief Guest (chairman DLSA), Ashok Kumar Shavan, explained the concept and importance of organising such programmes aimed at to aware the people regarding their rights to have the basic amenities, like education , drinking water, drainage, roads etc and reach out to unreached people with legal aid. He further said that the program is aiming to bring a paradigm shift from awareness to empowerment. He encouraged the participants, especially the youth associated with mission youth to reach out to the people especially in remote areas with legal aid.
He further said that continuous efforts are being made by the courts to ensure that every individual has access to social and economic justice and programs like this provides window to approach people directly for resolving their issues” he added.
