Srinagar, Nov 2 : A non-local labourer died and two of his colleagues are being treated upon, due to ‘asphyxiation’ in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, official sources said.

They told GNS that three persons Ansar (20) Azim (22) – residents of Uttar Pradesh and Ubaid Ahmad Parra son of Bashir Ahmad Parra, resident of Homehana Nagbal were brought to a local hospital at Zainapora in unconscious condition. Upon assessment, the doctors declared one labourer namely Ansar as brought dead on arrival, they said.

The two other labourers after being kept under observation were later on referred to a Srinagar hospital for treatment, they said.

The labourers were lodged at a rented accommodation at Nagbal in Zainapora area, they further said.

A police official told that the incident primarily seems to have taken place due to asphyxiation. “We are looking into the facts to ascertain the actual cause”, the official added. (GNS)
