RAMBAN, OCTOBER 20: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Mussarat Islam who is also the chairman of District Level Forest Right Act Committee (DLFRAC) today convened a meeting to review the progress on implementation of Forest Rights Act 2006 in the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal;  ACR, Dherinder Sharma;   DFO Rajan Singh and other committee members attended the meeting.

Responding to the issues highlighted by the Forest Right Committees, the Deputy Commissioner directed all Tehsildars to ensure that concerned Patwaris submit ground verification reports expeditiously in terms of FRA 2006 so that the claims received are examined and forwarded to the Sub Divisional Committee and then the District-level Committee for further necessary action.

While discussing measures taken-up by the concerned to implement Forest Right Act 2006 effectively on ground, the DC impressed upon      Forest Right   Committees to conduct frequent Gram Sabhas in their respective Panchyats to scrutinize the claims registered by the applicants for taking benefits under Forest Right Act 2006 FRA as per guidelines.

The DC impressed upon the committee members to sensitize the people about their Rights besides ensuring proper verification of the claims as per guidelines of Forest Right Act 2006.  He also asked Chairpersons of Sub Divisional Level Committees to submit the claims received so far to DLCs after proper verification to achieve the target.

Earlier, ADC who is also the chairperson of SDLC Ramban, briefed the meeting about status of cases which are in progress at different levels besides impressing upon committees to propose community claims to resolve their basic issues of development under extant rules.

During the meeting various issues pertaining to the implementation of the Act were raised by the members of Forest Right Committees and other stakeholders, which were clarified by the DC and DFO Ramban.
