Kathua, October 20: As part of Public Outreach Programme, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, today took stock of public grievances during a Block Diwas held at Hiranagar.
BDC Chairperson, Hiranagar, Ram Lal Kalia, Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people attended the outreach programme.
The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands problems concerning their respective areas.
The participants submitted a memorandum of demands highlighting issues including better road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas and provision of uninterrupted power supply besides other development needs of the areas.
Other issues highlighted during the programme included provision of check dams in water logged areas, replacement of old electricity poles, construction of new school building of PS Pathwal, pending liabilities under SBM, shortage of teaching staff and problem of monkey menace in Hiranagar and surrounding panchayats etc.
DC gave patient hearing to the demands of the people and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.
Responding to the demands highlighted by many individuals and PRI members, DC said that Block Diwas initiative was aimed at reaching out to the people and listening to their grievances and redressing them in an efficient and coordinated manner.
Responding to the demand of pending liabilities under Swachh Bharat Mission, DC directed the ACD and DPO for early redressal of the issues.
DC also stressed upon the PRIs to organize Gram Sabhas before making a final plan for their panchayats so that a need based and practical development plan is formulated.
He directed concerned officers to ensure timely redressal of the complaints put forth by individuals and deputations during the proceedings of block diwas.
He also urged upon the people to keep their surroundings clean and do not allow water stagnation in their milieu as a preventive measure against the spread of dengue.
