Leh, Sep 16: The Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur today held a meeting with KK Pathak, Managing Director, NHIDCL and discussed progress of various projects being undertaken by NHIDCL in Ladakh.
Pathak informed the Hon’ble LG that works on the Kargil-Zanskar road stretch are in full swing and that land issues discussed in the previous meeting are being addressed. He also assured that the Kargil road will be kept functional through the winters.
LG Mathur was also apprised of the progress of the Zoji-la tunnel project and its expected early completion.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that NHIDCL must invest in latest technologies to assist them in road constructions, especially during the winter months. “Methods and procedures are readily available and with the appropriate technology, a competent implementing agency and the required budget, weather is not a challenge,” he stated during the meeting.
Construction of roads during the night hours, exploring modular technologies for building bridges and road construction in permafrost areas were also suggested by the Hon’ble LG.
Col Dinesh Dikshit, Executive Director (P) NHIDCL RO-Ladakh and Bipin Kumar Chand, General Manager (T) NHIDCL HQ were also present during the meeting.
