Delhi, September, 15: Secretary Agriculture, Ravinder Kumar, today, participated in the conference of Lieutenant Governor’s of Union Territories, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The conference was organised to review the agriculture sector of UT’s and to give information on various schemes presently run by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, discuss issues pending with UT’s and saturating the agricultural sector of UTs. The meeting was also attended by Lt. Governor, UT Ladakh, RK Mathur via video conferencing.
While speaking on the occasion, Secretary Agriculture, Ravinder Kumar gave a detailed status of the various schemes running in UT Ladakh and also shared his views and plans regarding the development of the Agriculture and Horticulture sector in UT of Ladakh.
He said that he is committed for the overall development of UT Ladakh in the agriculture sector and also stressed that organic farming will be done on a large scale for the overall development of Ladakh.
In the meeting, all the issues concerning the agriculture and horticulture sector were taken up before the Ministry of Agriculture, GoI.
Tashi Tsetan, Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh; Tsewang Punchok, Chief Horticulture Officer Leh; Dr. Stanzin Thakchos OSD to Secretary Agriculture, along with farmers from Leh and Kargil district of UT Ladakh also attended the conference.
