SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 08: Mission Director Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today convened a meeting with the officials of JKRLM(Umeed) to review the progress of mission in Baramulla district.

The meeting was attended by Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, Additional Mission Director, Kashmir; District Programme Managers (DPMs), Block Programme Managers(BPMs), MIS Assistants of district Baramulla  and other officials of the Mission.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Sehrish asked for facilitating linkage of SHGs with the bank branches to ensure timely availability of credit to SHGs. The BPMs were directed to   strengthen the Community Based Resource Mechanism (CBRM) committees in their respective blocks. These CBRM committees would further facilitate the identification of requirements of loans, credit linkage and successive repayments, she added.

She further impressed upon the BPMs to identify the areas where infrastructure and marketing support can be enhanced and identify the most acceptable livelihoods in the district.

The MD further emphasized upon the BPMs to complete the Aadhaar seeding process during social mobilization itself and enroll all the eligible SHGs of the district under social security schemes including PMSBY, PMJJBY, Ayushman Bharat.

Dr Sehrish directed the officials to create awareness about the PMFME scheme among the SHGs in the district and further instructed the officials to organize special campaigns so that the information about the scheme reaches to all the members. She further added that since Baramulla is rich in horticulture production, she impressed upon the officials to encourage the SHGs in having enterprises in food processing to enhance their livelihoods  under PMFME.

In order to provide credit facilities to the SHGs members registered with Handicrafts Department in the district the SHG members shall be enrolled under artisan credit card scheme, she said

Dr Sehrish further said that the month of September is celebrated as Rahtriya “POSHAN MAH” for focused and assimilated approach towards improving holistic nutrition. She urged the BPMs to organize group meetings with SHGs to discuss issues focusing on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, anemia, poshanvatika and spread awareness about COVID 19 and its vaccination, she added.

While informing the meeting about progress of blocks in the district, the officials apprised that 49341 rural women have been federated into 6028 SHGs and an amount of Rs 24.42 crore has been provided to the SHGs as capitalization from the Mission.

The chair was further informed that in order to strengthen the relation between the bankers and SHG members financial literacy camps/workshops were also conducted in the district.

It was given out that in addition, the SHGs have been credit linked with the banks to the tune of Rs 141.97 crore. The SHG members have invested the amount in different livelihoods like mushroom cultivation, livestock rearing, handicrafts, horticulture. Besides, it was given out that under convergence various livelihood initiatives have been successfully initiated in collaboration with other line departments.
