Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass Ghulam Asgar, SHO Drass Feroz Ahmad besides other concerned officers and officials accompanied the ADC during the tour.

The ADC interacted with the engineers and operators of Project Vijayak involved in the road clearance operations and hailed their tireless efforts in completing the snow clearance operations up to Zero Point despite the recent heavy snowfall and hostile weather conditions.

JE Sanjiv Kumar of 55 RCC Project Vijayak informed the ADC that after road clearance up to Zero Point, the Vijayak team is presently clearing snow beyond their jurisdiction while from Sonamarg side the Project Beacon has reached up to Dayal side, adding it will take a couples of days to re-connect the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh National Highway for vehicular traffic subject to fair weather conditions.

Later, the ADC took stock of the necessary arrangements for establishment of COVID-19 screening points at Meenamarg Check Post including the setting up of the structure for conducting the RT-PCR tests of all inbound passengers

While inquiring from the concerned officers about the pace of progress achieved on the setting up of screening points, the ADC instructed the concerned engineers of PWD to expedite the work on war footing well before the opening of Zojila Pass. He further directed the concerned officers that all required facilities including heating and other logistics should be provided soon so that the COVID-19 screening activities are carried out in a smooth and hassle free manner.

The ADC also instructed the officers concerned to remain in complete readiness to take all suitable measures by working in tandem and complete coordination to ensure smooth passage of vehicles on the opening of the NH-01 for traffic besides also ensuring foolproof screening of all inbound passengers at Meenamarg Check Post.
