Jammu/Srinagar: Using separatism to cash the public sentiment through mainstream is the norm in Kashmir. Right from the times of Sheikh Abdullah Kashmir using the Jihadi separatism for securing votes has been the thumb rule. So-called mainstream parties of Kashmir who claim to have faith in the democratic process and secularism have been exposed over the years. Thanks to the social media and the vigilant civil society their game plan is now in the public domain. Soliciting the support of the terrorist organisations to convert the jihadi dissent into votes has been the mainstay of government formation that has affected the whole J & K.The National Investigating Agency(NIA) has disclosure that Waheed-ur-Rahman Para,PDP leader and a close associate of the party President and former Chief Minister of J& K, Mehbooba Mufti is involved in subversive activities. The NIA has revealed that had given Rs.5 crore to All parties Hurriyat Conference(APHC) for catalysing the secessionist activities in Kashmir.
Not only that he has been in league with the Hizbul Mujahideen, Deputy Chief, Naveed Mushtaq during the 2019 Parliamentary Elections. In fact, he had campaigned for the party. His role in the smuggling of weapons from Kupwara to South Kashmir has been established and he had used the Government vehicle to escort the consignment. Para has been instrumental in making jihadis infiltrate the vital institutions and formations in the governance to subvert them from within. So that instruments of the Indian state are used to wreck the Indian nation from within. It is an act of war against the nation.
As per the NIA, this was the operational part of the Hizbul Mujahideen conspiracy hatched in Pakistan. It is a well-known fact that how the party leader Mehbooba Mufti had been visiting the slain terrorist household earlier and then campaigning while raising the green handkerchief. It establishes the fact that the mainstream parties like PDP have been acting as the overground arm of jihadis. We have seen how Kashmir based parties who have been calling themselves as mainstream players openly displayed the Jihadi agenda in Gupkar Declaration recently. Going back in history in the early seventies photographs showing Farooq Abdullah attending the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) conventions in POJK areas are still fresh in public memory. He was seen joining ranks with the secessionists like Amanullah Khan and Maqbool Bhat. And openly advocating the independence of J & K and secession from India. This trend of competent secessionism has been the political culture of Kashmir and hoodwink the national opinion. Article 370 and 35 A had given enough leverage and space to this subversion to nurture the separate sphere of jihadi influence protected by these subversive articles. Post neutralisation of these articles and the political reorganisation of J & K things are different. As it has taken the wind out of the jihadi sails. This so-called mainstream –jihadi nexus has been holding the public discourse and political narrative as hostage.
Now that these conspiracies have been exposed there is an urgent need to conduct a comprehensive investigation and bring the subversives to justice. The great challenge is the identification of the subversive fifth column that has been placed within the governance and institutions by jihadi handlers like Parra. These operatives need to be ejected out and subjected to enquiry. As this is the question of national security. These people are acting as the sleeper cells to inflict damage on the nation-building from within by using the instruments and institutions of the Indian state. Intelligence agencies must launch the offensive to nab these subversives to safeguard the national interest in Jammu and Kashmir.
