CCI jammu hails budget allocated to J&K

Jammu:  The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu on Thursday hailed the Rs 1.08 lakh crore budget for J&K claiming it to be step towards the overall development of J&K UT.

In a statement issued here, Arun Gupta President CCI welcomed the sops and provisions given in the budget for the sector of Industries and Commerce saying this time allocation of funds viz Rs 648 crore is Rs 291 crore more than the last year’s budget thus raising hopes of all the stakeholders that soon their problems shall be mitigated.

He said that Rs. 400 crore for the reimbursement of GST by State Taxes Department is also significant step for trade and industry fraternity as this will prove to be a boon for the MSME sector besides other stakeholders. He said that government through such initiatives is doing its bit in providing much required stability to the sickening industry and business which is grappling to overcome recession caused due to curbs imposed on account of COVID-19.

He expressed gratitude to FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Lt. Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha, Sh. Arun Kumar Mehta(IAS) Financial Commissioner, Finance Department, and Sh. Ranjan Prakash Thakur (IRTS) Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce Department J & K Govt. and others involved in the exercise of carving out the outlines of budget by seriously considering the plight of industry and commerce sector.

Arun Gupta also appreciated the mentors of this year’s budget for announcing a food park in Kud area falling in Udhampur District claiming that this will go a long way in boosting economy and generating employment avenues in the hilly part of the district. He also appreciated the Budget allocation for new tourist circuits including Mansar and Surinsar and allocation of Rs. 20 crores for New Ropeways. He said that provision Rs. 200 crore to set up new industrial estates as envisioned in the recently crafted industrial policy is nothing but realization of dreams of people of J&K.
