Rajouri, February 24: Former Minister and Vice President Apni Party Ch. Zulfikar Ali today accused the National Conference of facilitating BJP to delimit assembly constituencies against the wishes of people by staying away from the process.
“We believe that the way NC has boycotted participation in the Delimitation Commission is an act of helping the right wing political party to work as per their choice by carving out assembly constituencies without the involvement of any regional political party. The NC’s stand has again compromised the future of innocent people of J&K,” said Ch. Zulfikar Ali in a statement issued in Rajouri today.
He said that “NC trying to divert attention of people from their failure to represent people of J&K even as they have three Member Parliaments and they are the members of the Delimitation Commission. It seems, they have secretly come to an agreement with BJP that they will not create problems for them, and allow them to work as per their wishes. There is no justification to boycott the Delimitation Commission when you had an opportunity to represent people of J&K.”
The Former Minister said “The Delimitation Commission would have the consequences for the generations to come. They had an opportunity to defend and protect the rights of the people which they have missed. Instead, they have given free hands to BJP to play with the future of the people.”
Exposing the NC’s politics of restoring to emotional blackmailing, Zulfikar said “If they were so concerned about the Reorganization Act, 2019, the abrogation of Art 370 and Art 35A, the NC MPs should have resigned from the Lok Sabha on the same day. However, they did not do so.”
“They have a fixed match with BJP in Center and enjoy their friendship for their political gains,” he added. He asked the National Conference leadership to come clear on their stand or all of their MPs should resign.
He said that the silence of NC leadership on Delimitation has raised many questions.
