KARGIL, FEBRUARY 17, 2021: The concluding ceremony of the 32nd National Road Safety Month was held at Bus Stand Kargil Town here today.

The event was organized by the All Transport Association Kargil Ladakh in collaboration with MVD Ladakh ARTO, Kargil.

Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Saleem Wazir, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kargil Khadim Hussain, Incharge Police Post Bazar Kargil Muhammad Jameel, drivers and good number of people were present on the occasion.

Drivers and members from All Transport Association Kargil, Ladakh took an awareness rally from Bus Stand Kargil to Fatima Chowk. The rally after passing through the Main Bazar concluded at Bus Stand Kargil.

Tehsildar Kargil Mohammad Saleem Wazir said that inclusion of all the stakeholders is a positive aspect of this camp. He expressed optimism that drivers and participants will follow the road safety rules and regulations in their daily life.

ARTO Kargil Khadim Hussain in his speech appreciated the cooperation of all transport associations for their support in sensitizing the masses particularly the road users and transporters during the month long camp. The changes in the society begin from civic sense and mentality of each and every citizen, stated the ARTO.

Road accidents are not confined to the drivers and passengers but pedestrians, road engineers and other public are also equally vulnerable in the road accidents. He also urged people to rely less on machines which is good for the environment as well. “To be a good driver, you need to be a good human first”, the ARTO said.

Incharge Police Post Kargil Muhammad Jameel while addressing the participants said that the drivers should have an inner conscious from his heart that no one should hurt from his side. Like doctors, engineers and other professionals, a driver should also ponder upon his contributions and responsibilities towards the society. He urged all the drivers to pledge that no one would suffer from anyone of them.

Meanwhile, President Mini Bus Association Kargil Mohammad Ali presented an eloquent poetry on traffic rules in Purgi language.
