KARGIL FEBRUARY 15, 2021: In connection with the series of awareness activities being held in the district as a part of the 32nd National Road Safety Month, Traffic Police Ladakh Branch Kargil organized an awareness programme for commercial drivers regarding road safety measures at Bus Stand Kargil here today.
Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Saleem Wazir, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kargil Khadim Hussain, District Traffic Inspector (DTI), Nissar Ali, Incharge Police Post Bazar Kargil Muhammad Jameel, officers and officials of Traffic Police, drivers and good number of people were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Tehsildar Kargil, Muhammad Saleem Wazir said that we have a very casual approach while driving on the road and very often road safety rules are taken lightly such wearing seatbelts, ensuring proper documents etc. He said that this mentality needs to be changed and road safety month is such an occasion where we can change this unwanted attitude and learn minute details of road safety seriously.
ARTO Kargil Khadim Hussain said that amid of harsh climate small places like Kargil have also celebrated the 32nd Road Safety month with zeal and passion and many different fruitful activities have been organized and the society at large particularly the driving fraternity have benefited from these workshops and programmes.
The ARTO Kargil while applauding the services of Traffic Police said there is a huge role of traffic officials in ensuring road safety and traffic enforcement and we all must applaud these heroes of our society. He further added that there are no short cuts in life and we should abide the law and ensure proper documentation of vehicles and least violation of traffic rules.
District Traffic Inspector Kargil, Nissar Ali said that since the amendment of the new Motor Vehicles Act in 2019, Government has increased the amount of penalty regarding road safety violations.
Inspector Nissar Ali further said that if drivers are driving with proper safety measures and taking due care of their documents, they don’t require worrying about penalties.
The District Traffic Officer added that there are many professional drivers in our society who hardly have been penalised and people should take such drivers as inspiration and serve the society with dedication.

Meanwhile, pamphlets and stickers on road safety measures were distributed among the participants on the occasion.
