Leh, February 3: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur was called upon by various delegations at Raj Niwas today.
Sonam Gyaltsan, Headteacher, Government Middle School Taknak, Sakti who is also a national awardee approached the Lt. Governor with some suggestions to improve the School education System in Ladakh based on his 17 years of experience as a teacher. He suggested the introduction of Montessori Education in government schools, rationalization of govt. schools, to organise winter camps, central heating system in schools, working of schools in winters, transportation facilities and strengthening of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, etc. The Lt. Governor congratulated Mr Gyaltsan on receiving the national award and appreciated his views towards improving school education quality in Ladakh.
Noor Mohd, Chairman, BDC upper Block, Drass in a representation apprised the Lt. Governor of the demands on behalf of the people of Drass. He requested the LG to consider operating Air services of Pawan Hans to Drass, allocation of Border Development Fund, to open Botokul for tourists as well for locals, creation of posts in SDM Office, Drass, SRTC bus services to Drass and opening of Drass to Gurez road, etc.
A delegation of Ladakh Contractors Association headed by President Haji Mohd Hassan Haidery called upon the Lt. Governor and apprised him of the financial crises faced by the contractors of Ladakh due to nonpayment of their work done claims under various schemes. They also made the request to transfer their security deposits lying with the Director Treasuries of UT J&K to the Director Treasuries of UT Ladakh, to ensure Administrative Approval Accord and technical sanction as per guidelines of the Finance Department of GOI while inviting tenders, to consider engagement of local contractors while transferring projects to PSUs, etc.
The Lt. Governor gave assurance to consider the representations presented by the delegations.
