EC Tashi reviewed preparations for the mega plantation drive in Chushul

Leh, Jan 30, 2021: Executive Councillor for Rural Dept. LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, chaired a meeting today to review the progress and status of the mega plantation drive under the Go-Green Go-Organic mission in Chushul on April 22, 2021.

The meeting was attended by Councillor Chushul, Konchok Stanzin; Xen PHE, Sonam Angchuk, AEE (Mech.) PHE, Wangyal Phuntsog, Dy. Director, Command Area Development, Thinles Dawa, DFO Leh, Mohd. Ali, Xen Irrigation and Flood Control, Tashi Tundup, Sarpanch Chushul, Tsering Dolker, President, Chushul Gompa Committee, Ven. Konchok Tsephel and representative from Go-Green Go Organic committee, Ven. Thinley Dorjey.

Xen PHE, Angchuk informed the meeting that 5 bore-wells have already been set up at the plantation site and 3 of them are fitted with Solar Immersible pipes for providing water supply. Likewise, HODs of departments such as forest, Command Area Development and Irrigation updated their status of preparedness to the meeting.

EC Tashi directed concerned HODs to speed up the pending works. He also requested public representatives and the organising committee to contribute equally in providing help in successfully conducting the mega plantation drive.

The “Go Green Go Organic” an initiative by H.E Drikung Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche is aimed at maintaining ecological balance and environmental stability of Ladakh while improving socio-economic conditions and generating ecotourism focuses on environmental education and implementing organic practices in Ladakh.

The final drive will commence in Chushul on April 22, 2021 on the occasion of Earth Day.
