Leh, Jan 25: National Tourism Day 2021 was celebrated by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), at the Tourist Information Centre (TIC), Leh today.
Assistant Tourism Officer (ATO), Tashi Tundup, executive members of ALTOA and tourists from different parts of the country were present during the event. Speaking on the occasion, ATO, Tashi Tundup highlighted the importance of the tourism industry in Ladakh’s economy as the majority of its population is entirely dependent on the tourism sector for their livelihood. He also spoke on the importance of sustainable and responsible tourism in a high-altitude area like Leh.
ATO Tashi and officials of ALTOA also greeted and thanked tourists from across the country who have visited Ladakh for the Chadar trek.
A cleanliness drive was conducted at the office premises of TIC. The objective of the National Tourism Day is to encourage tourism and explain the essential role of tourism in the growth of the country.
