Leh, January 25: On the occasion of the 11th National Voters’ Day the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur in his message has greeted the people of Ladakh for reaffirming the faith in the electoral process by participating in large numbers, including enrolling in the voter list or participating in the election.
The Lt. Governor asserted that elections are the very foundation of democracy, and a robust democracy requires the active participation of its citizens in the electoral process. “Election Commission of India has played a stellar role in conducting free and fair elections over the past seven decades and by declaring 25th January, the foundation day of Election Commission of India, as National Voters Day, ECI has demonstrated its commitment to the cause of people’s participation in the electoral process,” he said.
“On this National Voters Day, let’s celebrate the right to vote, the most valuable gift given to us by the Constitution of India. I take this opportunity to compliment all the officials of the Election Department of Ladakh for their outstanding performance over the past decades. I would like to appeal to the people of Ladakh to strengthen their democratic rights by registering as voters,” said the LG.
LG Mathur in his message has conveyed best wishes to every citizen on this National Voters Day and appealed to everyone to make it a grand success by becoming an integral part of the democratic electoral process.
