Leh, January 22: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur was called upon by a member on behalf of the people of Derchik-Garkon with a submission to nominate a separate Councilor for Dard Aryan community to ensure effective representation and development of their area with its own unique identity and culture.
A delegation of Aam Admi Party also called upon the Lt. Governor to take up the unemployment issues of Ladakhi youth and requested to initiate the recruitment process for district cadre posts and discontinue outsourcing. They expressed the need for awareness campaigns to enable the local youth avail benefit of various government schemes for business, entrepreneurship, skill development and start-ups. They also made a request for the LG’s intervention in ensuring job security of local workers, porters and daily wagers with BRO, Indian Army and other para-military organisations.
The Lt. Governor also held a meeting with Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, Director, NIFT Srinagar regarding a project to develop Pashmina clusters in Ladakh to promote Pashmina production and its value addition. Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas and Dr Monika Gupta, Professor NIFT were also present in the meeting.
