JAMMU, JANUARY 15: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil; former Ministers, former Legislator and DDC Member called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today at Raj Bhavan here.
Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan submitted a memorandum of issues and demands to the Lt Governor pertaining to reservation of seats in SKAUST Jammu/Kashmir and in other Universities of J&K for the students of Kargil & Leh; reservation in admissions in Para-Medical Colleges of J&K, Boys/Girl Hostel for Students of Kargil at Srinagar and pending GP Fund of employees of Ladakh.
The Lt Governor assured the Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil that the genuine issues put forth by him would be looked into meticulously for their redressal at the earliest.
Meanwhile, former Minister and senior JKAP Leader, Syed Altaf Bukhari met the Lt Governor and put forth various issues of public importance including speeding up of the restoration work of Srinagar-Jammu Highway.
While interacting with the former Minister, the Lt Governor said that the men and machinery have been pressed into services to restore the Srinagar-Jammu Highway for traffic movement.
Similarly, former Minister, Abdul Majid Wani called on the Lt Governor and apprised him about developmental issues of Doda area from tourism point of view. He also demanded a Degree College for the people of far-flung areas of Block Bhalla and Marmat. Sarpanchs of Panchayat Trown and Shiva also accompanied the former Minister.
Later, former Legislator, Vibodh Gupta along with DDC member Dharhal, Mohammad Iqbal Malik called on the Lt Governor and drew his attention towards the issue of tapping tourism potential of Rajouri area, particularly, seven Lakes, which has huge religious as well as tourism importance. They also raised the issues related to road connectivity from Dharhal to Shakarmarg which is the gateway to the beautiful Pir Panjal ranges.
The Lt Governor, during his interaction with the members of the delegations, observed that the UT government is committed for the equitable development of all the areas of J&K.
Development of tourism sector is among the prime focus areas of the government which will facilitate the socio-economic development, besides attracting more avenues for holistic development of the tourist potential areas of J&K, said the Lt Governor.
He assured the members of the delegations that the issues and demands raised by them would be taken up for consideration on merit.
