Kupwara:  A colorful and vibrant 73rd Army Day was celebrated by Army with children in Govt Higher Secondary School in Lastiyal, Kalaroos of Kupwara by organising a Drawing Competition with Nationalist Fervor on 15 Jan 2021 .

The event was attended by a total of 150 villagers incl 60 children . At first the villagers were made to understand the importance of Army Day, upcoming Republic Day and then Preamble of Indian Costitution was read out instilling a feeling of pride and patriotism .
Drawing Competition was then organised for children on Nationalist Theme . First they were made familiar with National Symbols, National Heroes and Param Veer Chakra Awardees on boards displayed for them. Thereafter they were distributed drawing sheets and colour pens for Drawing Competition on Nationalist Theme. The enthusiasm and josh during competition was heartwarming wherein children brought out best talents in them. And, at the same time, the National symbols and heroes remained etched in their minds. Best five children were awarded with prizes in front of every one by Sarpanch Mr Nazeer Ahmed Lone, Principal Mr Arif Hussain and teachers.
Mr Sayeed Imtiyaz from National Red Cross Society educated everyone regarding good hygienic practices during winters and distributed free hygiene materials to the locals.
Singing of National Anthem and cheering of Bharat Mata ki Jai by everyone present reverberated in the premises and in the hearts and minds as well. The day concluded with tea and snacks for all.
The success of the event could be guaged by the vibrancy, giggles and smiles on children’s faces and request by Sarpanch and teachers to conduct such events in other villages also. The event reinvigorated the Patriotic Feelings in villagers and brought Jawan and Awam closer.
