Covid-19 claims one more life, 256 test positive in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 01: Jammu and Kashmir Friday recorded one more fresh death due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 1,884 in the Union Territory while 256 positive cases were reported taking the tally of positive cases to 121,227 in J&K.

Of the exact number of 121,227 cases, 71,183 are from Kashmir and 50,043 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency— that among 256 new cases, 150 belong to Kashmir division while as 106 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 71,183 including 68,446 recoveries and 1,186 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 50,044 including 47,881 recoveries and 698 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,010 including 1,551 from Kashmir division and 1,465 from Jammu division. With 248 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 116,327 which is 95.95 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 61 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 14 from Budgam, 06 from Kupwara, 26 from Pulwama, 06 from Anantnag, 05 from Bandipora and 11 from Ganderbal, 02 from Kulgam and 09 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 72 from Jammu, 07 from Udhampur, 02 from Rajouri, 02 from Doda, 03 from Kathua, 01 from Kishtwar, 14 from Samba and 01 from Poonch and 01 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24-hours one person who was tested positive for COVID-19 has died, the patient belongs to Jammu division.

As per officials figures, 25,376 positive cases including 450 deaths and 24,338 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,976 including 172 deaths and 7,689 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,618 including 7,364 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Budgam, 5,537 including 5,326 recoveries and 91 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,580 including 88 deaths and 5,323 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,798 including 4,606 recoveries and 83 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,650 cases including 4,536 and 60 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,480 including 4,346 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,664 including 2,546 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,504 including 2,372 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 23,868 including 22,662 recoveries and 355 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,089 including 3,969 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,842 including 3,629 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,388 including 3,279 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,199 including 3,096 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Kathua, 2,719 including 2,678 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,761 including 2,534 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Samba, 2,446 including 2,397 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Poonch, 2,104 including 2,055 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,628 including 1,582 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 887,840 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 14,354 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 3,016 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 83, 8439 persons have completed surveillance period and 30,147 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 3,851,827 samples are available.

Out of 3,851,827 the number of samples tested negative stands at 3,730,600 while as 121,227 have tested positive, among them 3,010 persons are active, 116,327 persons have recovered and 1,884 persons have died—(KNO)
