Jammu: One returnee from the United Kingdom tested positive for COVID19 while reports of 25 others are awaited.
“One of them has been tested for COVID19. He had recently returned from the UK. He is a resident of Roop Nagar in Jammu district,” a senior official in the Health department said.
The official said that the infected person had been shifted to the isolation ward of the GMC Hospital and his sample report would also be sent for genome testing in Delhi.
His close contacts including family members have been isolated and sampled for COVID19.
“The report of 25 other people is still awaited,” said another official, who wished not to be quoted. “There is no need to panic.”
The administration also identified 10 UK returnees in Jammu and they have been sampled for the deadly coronavirus.
The test report of only one has been confirmed of being infected. It has raised alarm in the administration and health authorities to trace all contacts of the infected person.
The Government of India had shared a list of 20 UK returnees with the J&K government.
