SRINAGAR, 20 October: The Director-General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh visited the family of Police Inspector Mohd. Ashraf Bhat who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack in Chandpora Bijbehara area of South Kashmir yesterday in the forenoon and in the afternoon he interacted with the families of JK Police martyrs of district Srinagar at DPL Srinagar.
The DGP accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar, DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Atul Goel and SSP Anantnag Shri Sandeep Choudhary met the family members of martyred Police Officer. They conveyed their heartfelt condolences and assured all help to Martyr’s family. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Inspector Mohd Ashraf Bhat was critically injured in a cowardly terror attack at his native place and was evacuated to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday evening.
Later in the afternoon, the DGP interacted with the families of Police martyrs of district Srinagar at a simple function organized by District Police Office Srinagar, at District Police Lines.
This interaction with martyrs families was organized one day before the Police Commemoration Day being observed tomorrow in view of the COVID-19 advisories. At the very outset, one-minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs.
During the interaction, the DGP heard patiently the grievances of all the families of martyrs. He also enquired about the health of proud parents of martyrs, SRO -43 Cases pending and about the studies of their kids and their scholarships. He gave on spot direction in respect of some of the cases.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that the Police organisation is committed to look after the needs and issues of all the families of our brave martyrs who have sacrificed their precious lives while safeguarding the interests of people. The DGP said no amount of money can fill the gap caused due to loss of a valuable family member, however the monetary support creates sources of livelihood, education etc. for the dependents of the martyrs. He added that financial support to the families of martyrs in shape of relief amount has been enhanced up to rupees 75 lakhs (from all sources) in case of police personnel and upto rupees 34.50 lakh (from all sources) in case of SPOs. He assured them that the Police department will extend all possible help and support to the families of martyrs as and when required.
Among others, IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar, SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughul, AIG Welfare/Communication PHQ Shri Manoj Pandit and other officers of Srinagar district were present on the occasion.
Later DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar distributed blankets among the families of martyrs.
