Kupwara: HUMDARD-E-KUPWARA Bn under the aegis of  HAJIPIR Bde and  VAJR  Div celebrated the  International Day of Rural Women  on 15 Oct 2020  to commemorate the solidarity and strength of Rural Women and their contribution in building the society and the nation in turn.

The Bn reached out to these silent contributors in far flung areas of Kupwara  to recognise and felicitate these pillars of society in making Kupwara a better place than rest of the Union Territory. The Bn distributed blankets, tarpaulins and necessary household and nutritional items, in conjunction with an NGO, Goonj Foundation and organised lunch as a small token of appreciation of their solidarity. Bn also roped in local Government lady doctors to conduct free medical camps to address health issues specific to women, to teach treating burn injury of a child incl door to door COVID-19  testing. Lectures were organised on women empowerment, health & hygiene, education of children* especially girl child & equality in opportunities.
The Commanding Officer of HUMDARD-E-KUPWARA Bn conveyed his salutations by addressing the women as  BACKBONE of Kupwara. He appreciated their relentless efforts in looking after their families, raising their children, working inthe fields and rearing of cattle and sheep which they performround the clock tirelessly and without due recognition from the rest of the world. He also appreciated the voluntary contribution by these women in community development works  in Kalarooch area wherein a backbreaking work of construction of a waterpoint and the road leading to it was undertaken in conjunction with Goonj Foundation. He thanked Goonj Foundation for the same & felicitated them with a Letter of Appreciation. He reiterated that HUMDARD-E-KUPWARA Bn will always stand beside the AWAM in their efforts towards progress in all dimensions and will be there just a call away.
The AWAM expressed their deep gratitude and thanked the Bn in putting in efforts to reach out to this silent but strong section of society and felicitating them in recognition of their efforts.
