Kupwara: World Students’ Day is celebrated on October 15 worldwide to commemorate the birth anniversary of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who was a great scientist and teacher. In 2010, the United Nations Organization (UNO) declared October 15 as the World Students’ Day to honour his efforts on promoting education.
Army Goodwill School, Chandigam celebrated World Students Day in a unique way by inviting students from nearby schools and organized various events for the students, a total of 5 schools participated in the event. This year, the theme of World Students’ Day is ‘Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace’. The events started by an opening speech on the life of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to make all students aware about his contribution to the country and towards science. A drawing competition for the students was organized wherein maximum students participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
Kho Kho match between Army Goodwill School, Chandigam and a combined team of local Government Schools was conducted wherein Army Goodwill School , Chandigam came out as the winners. Prizes were given to all the winners and the participating schools appreciated the event.
