Closing ceremony of HPCL-2020 held at Sports Ground Bakihakar
Handwara October 14 / 2020C: losing ceremony of *Handwara Police Cricket League-2020* which was organized by *District Police Handwara* under Civic Action Programme, held today here at Sports Ground Bakihakar.
Final Match of the tournament was played between Spartans Cricket Club Handwara and Brothers 11 Ramhal which was *won* by the *Spartans Cricket Club Handwara* by 34 runs.

Director General of Police *Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS* was the Chief Guest who was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone *Shri Vijay Kumar-IPS* and DIG NKR Baramulla *Shri Sulieman Choudhary-IPS*. Besides officers from Police, Army, Para military, Media fraternity, Political activists, Participating teams, Trade federation Handwara, Retired Police officers, members from civil society, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanches of Handwara area and the cricket lovers were also present.
DGP J&K was was presented Guard of honour.
The tournament was earlier inaugrated by Advisor to Lt. Governor *R.R. Bhatnagar* and *DGP J&K* on 3rd of October 2020. In the tournament *32* teams of Handwara have participated which was played on knock out basis. The tournament was played in different Venues with great enthusiasm, passion and valour.
During the ceremony *DGP J&K* *Shri Dilbag Singh* thanked and appreciated all the participants, managing body and the supporters for making the tournament successful and peaceful.Police is organizing various sports events for youth and together we are working for peace, which is our joint responsibility.Speaking on the occasion, the DGP congratulated the winning and runners-up teams. He appreciated the District Police Handwara for the successful conduct of the League. He also thanked the general public of Handwara for their love and support for the youth participated in the tournament.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has always been on the forefront in providing platform to youth and guide them in following their goals by organizing different events across Jammu & Kashmir.
SP Handwara *Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy-IPS* thanked the DGP for gracing the closing ceremony event and for encouraging the youth of the district. He said that this gesture would go a long way in nurturing sports activities in Handwara. He also appreciated the *Handwara Police Family,* *Participants* of the tournament for their efforts , discipline and said that the games are played for a strong bond and peace. He also thanked the *media faternity* for giving the publicity to the tournament.
The two captains of the final match thanked the Jammu and Kashmir Police for providing platform for them to show their talent and expressed their hope that such events will be organised in the future also.
In the 20 over match *Brothers 11 Ramhal* won the toss & elected to bowl first. On the batting front *Spartans Cricket Club Handwara* scored 144 runs for 07 wickets and *Brothers 11 Ramhal* while chasing the target scored a total of 110 runs for 6 wickets and lost the final match of the tournament by 34 runs.
The DGP presented trophies to the winner and runner up teams. He also distributed prizes to the Man of the Series and Man of the match.
The winning team of the final was awarded a trophy and cash reward of 75000/- while as the runner up team was awarded a trophy and a cash reward of 25000/-.
Man of the match award was given to *Tariq Ahmad* of Spartans Cricket Club Handwara for taking 4 wickets; while as the man of the series award was given to *Khalid Ahmad* of Handwara Police Cricket Team for scoring 244 runs.
The aim of organizing the tournament by police was to motivate the youth to channelize their strength in constructive fields like sports and games.
