Leh, September 29: G Krishna Reddy, Minister of State, Home, Govt. of India visited Raj Niwas last evening and had an hour-long meeting with the Lt. Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur discussing important developmental works particularly the setting up of the MSME units in Ladakh. The higher potential areas in Ladakh include food processing, handloom, handicrafts, Pashmina, etc. and providing services to the Army.
The meeting also reviewed the status of Government initiatives on higher education including Ladakh University, Central University, Medical College and Engineering College, Institute of Hotel Management, Institute of Sowa Rigpa, etc. The action being taken on creating new infrastructure and adequately equipping the institutes with educational tools and materials was emphasised.
Other important infrastructural developments discussed were the construction of Zoji La tunnel, regular civilian flight services to Kargil, internal roads and communication improvement and the power sector, especially, the setting up solar power plants harnessing the natural solar energy available in Ladakh.
