Govt suspends DTO Rajouri for shortfall of Stamp papers worth lakhs

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14: Showing zero tolerance towards the corruption and mismanagement, government today suspended District Treasury Officer (DTO), Rajouri and ordered an enquiry into the unaccounted missing of stamp papers in the treasury.

Earlier an inspection of district treasury, Rajouri was conducted on 07/09/2020 by the Deputy Commissioner of Stamps, Jammu to ascertain the stock of stamps available in the treasury. The inspection report has revealed that the account of sale of stamp papers has not been maintained properly by the officials there.

As per the inspection report of the treasury,  there was shortfall of Stamp Papers worth Rs. 50,99,019. The mismanagement and dereliction of duty by the staff at treasury office Rajouri has resulted in loss to the state exchequer, the report reveals.

Taking cognizance of the matter the Finance Department issued an order No. 248-F of 2020 dated: 14-09-2020 placing Choudhary Imran Mehmood, District Treasury Officer, Rajouri and Arif Baigh, Cashier under suspension with immediate effect and regular departmental enquiry has also been initiated to bring all those responsible to the book.
