LG Mathur discusses Minority issues with Union Minister M A Naqvi

Leh, September 11: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur met with Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs at Raj Niwas today.

The meeting deliberated over crucial developmental activities in Ladakh. The Lt. Governor apprised the Minister about various minority beneficiary oriented schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), etc., and central scholarship programmes etc. being implemented in Ladakh. He informed that last year 20,546 students were given the benefit of scholarship and this year it has been made open to all grade students and professional degree courses to increase the number of targeted beneficiary. The Lt. Governor told that the administrative is working on proposals for implementation of various Minority Affairs schemes in Ladakh and running awareness programmes to motivate the relevant agencies to implement these schemes at the earliest, targeting maximum beneficiary.

Mr Naqvi agreed to send a team of senior officers to Ladakh to formulate new schemes and review performance of ongoing schemes under Minority Affairs that will be helpful in Ladakh. He said that under PMJVK funds will be provided for social and health infrastructure for minorities. He stressed on implementing minority schemes and scholarship schemes to benefit maximum number of people in Ladakh.
