Srinagar, Sep 08 : The security forces on Tuesday resumed the anti-militancy operation in Kawoosa village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district after it was halted late Monday night due to darkness.

Officials told  that search operation has resumed in Kawoosa village in the morning.

Earlier, a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kawoosa area of Narbal on Monday afternoon based on a specific input about the presence of militants in the area. “As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter,” the official said.

Meanwhile, security officials said that boats were pressed into service to trace whether any militant had drowned in the nearby stream during the initial shootout. “Boats were pressed into service and searches were on throughout the day. But no body was found,” he said—(KNO)
