 Leh admin tightens checking of COVID protocol violation; collects more than 2 lakhs of fine

Leh, Aug 26: In order to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the district, every effort is being made by the District Administration to check the follow up of the guidelines and protocols of COVID. With the pro-active approach of the District Administration it appreciates the cooperation from the general public and further appeals for their full support by following the COVID protocols to help contain the spread of coronavirus.

As per Additional District Commissioner Leh Dr Zahida Bano, under the directions of the District Magistrate Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya, in order to check the violation of COVID protocols in and around Leh city, various committees of District Officers/officials were constituted. With the active participation of the assigned committees the District Administration in cohesion with the Ladakh Police has collected fines of more than Rs. two lakhs till date from the violators of COVID protocols such as from restaurants, shops, individuals for not wearing a mask and other factors.

Tsewang Norboo of District Statistical & Evaluation Office Leh, Shabir Hussain of Municipal Committee Leh and Tsering Dadul of Animal Husbandry Department Leh are assigned the Choglamsar area. Ishey Phuntsok of Legal Metrology Department Leh, Roksana  Parveen of Pollution Control Board Leh, Tsering Angchuk of Stationery Department Leh, and Zahoor of Animal Husbandry Department Leh are given the Skalzangling,/ Housing colony & Skara / News Bus Stand Leh.

Similarly, Samrinder of ARTO Leh, Dr. Mohd Iqbal of Sheep Husbandry Department Leh, Tsering Tashi of District Youth Services & Sports Leh, Fida Hussain of ARTO Leh, Rigzin Paljor of Archeological Survey of India Department Leh, and Stanzin Gaychet of Exercise Department Leh have been assigned the job of checking the main market, Skampari, Gangles and Yourtung areas.

These committees submit their reports on a daily basis.
