JAMMU, AUGUST 06: The Government on Thursday informed that 499 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 73 from Jammu division and 426 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 23454. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 03 from Jammu division and 07 from Kashmir Division.

Moreover, 464 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 105 from Jammu Division and 359 from Kashmir Division.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 23454 positive cases, 7310 are Active Positive, 15708 have recovered and 436 have died; 34 in Jammu division and 402 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 686808 test results available, 663354 samples have been tested as negative till August 06, 2020.

Additionally, till date 381410 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43098 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7310 in isolation and 43640 under home surveillance. Besides, 286926 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 5699 positive cases (including 113 cases reported today) with 2375 Active Positive, 3180 recovered (including 131 cases recovered today), 144 deaths; Baramulla has 2041 positive cases (including 44 cases reported today) with 410 Active Positive, 1558 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today), 73 deaths; Pulwama reported 1743 positive cases (including 09 cases reported today) with 722 active positive cases and 994 recovered (including 43 cases recovered today) and 27 deaths; Kulgam has 1572 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 166 Active Positive and 1377 recoveries (including 40 cases recovered today) and 29 deaths; Shopian has 1500 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 193 Active Positive, 1283 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today) and 24 deaths; Anantnag district has 1490 positive cases (including 73 cases reported today) with 309 Active Positive, 1153 recovered (including 24 cases recovered today), 28 deaths;  Budgam has 1438 positive cases (including 52 cases reported today) with 455 Active Positive and 950 recovered (including 50 cases recovered today) cases and 33 deaths; Kupwara has 1181 positive cases (including 17 cases reported today) with 203 Active Positive, 957 recovered, 21 deaths; Bandipora has 914 positive cases (including 49 cases reported today) with 345 Active Positive, 553 recovered (including 14 cases recovered today) and 16 deaths and  Ganderbal has 603 positive cases (including 41 cases reported today) with 262 active positive cases and 334 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today) and 07 deaths.

Similarly, Jammu has 1412 positive cases (including 51 cases reported today) with 655 active positive cases and 734 recoveries (including 20 cases recovered today), 23 deaths; Rajouri has 751 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 260 active positive cases, 488 recovered (including 03 cases recovered today), 03 deaths; Ramban has 575 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 128 active positive, 446 recoveries (including 04 cases reported today), 01 death; Kathua has 565 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today) with 109 Active positive, 455 recovered (including 28 cases recovered today), 01 death; Udhampur has 595 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today)  with 203 active positive cases, 390 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 02 deaths; Samba has 467 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 170 Active Positive and 296 recoveries (including 09 cases recovered today), 01 death; Doda has 299 positive cases with 79 active positive cases, 218 recoveries, 02 deaths; Poonch has 252 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 90 active positive, 161 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today),01 death; Reasi has 198 positive cases with 127 active positive, 71 recoveries (including 11 cases recovered today) and Kishtwar has 159 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 49 active positive cases; 110 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today).

According to the bulletin, of the total 23454 positive cases in J&K 4778 have been reported as travelers while 18676 as others.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.

The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.

Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”

In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free number 102.

People can also call on toll-free national helpline number 1075; J&K COVID-19 Helpline Numbers 0191- 2549676 (UT level Cell), 0191-2520982, 0191-2674444, 0191-2674115 (For Jammu Division), 0194-2440283 & 0194-2430581 (For Kashmir Division) for support, guidance, and response to health-related queries on Novel Corona virus Disease (COVID-19).

Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.

People are also advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.
