Leh, July 31: A three day photography workshop was concluded today. The Commissioner/Secretary Tourism, UT Ladakh Rigzin Samphel was the chief guest. The workshop was organized by the department of Tourism Union Territory of Ladakh at the workshop hall of Tourism department Leh. The workshop was attended by 15 photophile/students of Leh district. The workshop was conducted by well known photographer Stanzin Khayab. Participants learned different aspects of photography during the workshop.
Addressing the gathering Com/Secy, Rigzin Samphel congratulated the participants of the workshop and said that the learning from this workshop will help them to pursue their passion in a professional manner. Sharing his experience of photography Rigzin Samphel observed, ‘A picture is worth a thousand of words’ said that photography is a powerful medium of expression and communication of imagination to the world and appeals the participants to show their expression and message with the perspective of photography.
Secretary Tourism further said that Ladakh is a beautiful destination for photographers and we have good scope to explore and in absence of digital world we have already lost lots of data and images of our rich heritage, monuments from the past generation. He urged the participants for documentation of our rich heritage and added that it is now our responsibility to save and capture the heritage.
He further added that in coming days UT-Administration will organize a workshop on photo editing and mobile documentation.
Assistant Director Tourism, Jigmet Namgail in his welcome address, elaborated the concept of organizing such programmes for the improvement and enhanced their skills to perform better in photography in future. He also informed that keeping in view the increasing Covid situation in Ladakh and to maintain social distance, the Tourism department will organize an online photography workshop in the coming days.
Later, the Commissioner Secretary presented a memento to the resource person.
