Kupwara teenager who crossed LoC in Jan this year returns home after serving six month detention in Pak

Kupwara, July 30 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday said it will thoroughly investigate the detention of a juvenile from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in Pakistan for around six months who went missing in January this year and is now back home.

Officials told that a missing boy who had crossed over the LoC was received in presence of army, police and officials from the administration at Line of Control at Teethwal in Karnah sector.

The official said that the boy not more than 15-years-old, a student of Higher Secondary School Tadd area, had crossed over the LoC in January and was detained there by the Pakistan army and remained under their detention for around six months.

The boy (Name Withheld), a resident of Sudpora, Kupwara was detained by Pakistan army on January 29, and was under detention there for all these months but recently a communication was made about handed over the boy under the set norms. “ He was received this afternoon in Teethwal close to the LoC in Karnah sector,” the official told.

The official said that the boy is too young and will be handed over to family members but most probably prior to that will be sent to Kupwara district headquarters for further course of action and investigation is must in such cases.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar told  that the case will be investigated thoroughly and more details related to the same will come to the fore only after proper investigation. “After proper investigation only then he will be handed over to the family members,” he said—(KNO)
