Leh, July 10: The Honorable LG R.K. Mathur today had a meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Jal Shakti GOI, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat via video conferencing. The Hon’ble Minister discussed the implementation and progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh.
Jal Jeevan Mission, envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, aims at providing portable water in adequate quantity and of prescribed quality to all households. Stressing on its importance, Hon’ble Union Minister Jal Shakti GOI, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that even though Ladakh’s terrain is challenging, the aim of providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) by March 2022 must be achieved, adding that the realization of this aim is vital to the overall development of Ladakh as a newly formed Union Territory.
The Hon’ble LG affirmed that considering Ladakh’s harsh climatic condition, the UT Administration is in the process of procuring the appropriate technologies and expertise to execute Jal Jeevan Mission and achieve the target in the given timeframe, thus fulfilling the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision.
The meeting was also attended by Umang Narula, Advisor to the Hon’ble LG.
