KUPWARA, JULY 04: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir organized a one day Training programme for Law Enforcers/Enforcement Squads of District Kupwara under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), here at Town Hall on Saturday.
The programme was attended by SSP Kupwara, Ram Ambarkar; District Health Officer, Abdul Gani Dar; Divisional Nodal Officer NTCP, Dr. Naheet Anjum Malik ; Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kupwara, BMOs and other concerned.
The experts highlighted various tobacco abuses through PowerPoint Presentation faced by the society as challenge and legal prohibitory statutes to curb the menace on ground. They also threw light on Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 and emphasized the role of law enforcing agencies especially police in controlling the menace.
Resource-persons emphasized that family as a first has a prime role and responsibly in curbing the drug menace as through proper counseling to the addicts.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kupwara discussed various ill effects of tobacco consumption and assured cooperation from police for eradicating the evil from the society.
District Health Officer, Abdul Gani Dar said that the law needs to be implemented strictly in the district to ensure good health of the people.
