Ramgrah: Government Degree College Ramgarh in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society celebrated ‘International Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking Day’. Students in large numbers are participating in the National level Poster making and Slogan writing competition. The entries so far are received from Punjab, J&K and Delhi. the results of these events will be declared tomorrow.

Today, a webinar on the theme ‘Better Knowledge for Better Care’ started at 10 a.m. on the Facebook page of GDC Ramgarh. The first speaker was Mr. Shakti Pathak, SSP Samba. He dealt on the related issues in length and laid stress on the fact that youth should be counseled regularly against the use of drugs.
Then Dr. Varun Sharma, Assistant Professor, Philosophy, Government P. G. College for women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu elaborated about the bad effects of drugs on society.
Next Dr. Narayan Mengi, Retired Chief Engineer, social activist spoke on the topic. He highlighted the facts and history of celebrating this day every year.

The next speaker was Ms. Akshita Abrol, Research Scholar, University of Jammu. She narrated the first hand experience of studying and interacting with youth who have the bad habit of taking drugs. She also gave suggestions to eradicate the menace from society.
The audience interacted with the resource persons effectively.

Online activities were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal, GDC Ramgarh and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director, JKACS. The program was co- ordinated by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Professor, Statistics and Prof. Risha Kumari, Assistant Professor, Punjabi with the cooperation of Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), JKACS.

Dr. Meeru Abrol lauded the efforts of all the participants for the successful conduct of online events. She laid stress on the need of educating youth about the ill effects of drugs. She also said that more rehabilitation centres should be opened.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather highlighted the dangers of drug abuse. He emphasized on the way in which the drugs interfere with the working of the brain which leads to ruin of human life.
