This yoga day was done keeping in mind the norms of social distance and using masks. The message has been given to the whole world and the whole country that they should adopt yoga in their lives and protect themselves. Do whatever yoga does not touch it, become a disease yogi, become a holy person, make life meaningful. In the form of yoga, a person’s immunity from corona and other diseases builds and when your immunity is strong you can avoid all the corona virus and other diseases.
At the end of the program, Tarun Sharma paid tribute to the brave martyrs and also thanked the students who were connected through him online.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu celebrated 6th International Yoga Day. On this occasion Online Yoga practice sessions for all the staff and students was organised on Zoom platform on 20th and 21st June. The final yoga session on 21st June 2020 was attended by Mr Sajad Hussain Ganai, Director Skill Development Department, J&K who stressed on the need and relevance of yoga seeing to the current stagnant lifestyle being adopted by the people.
Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of college, welcomed all the participants for the Online Yoga Sessions and highlighted the significance of Yoga for inner peace, transforming body and mind. The proceedings of all the Yoga sessions were carried out by Vinay Kumar, Instructor of the college. The yoga sessions were attended by various HODs, Faculty, Staff and students of the institute.
On this occasion an online quiz competition was also organized for all the students and staff to spread awareness about yoga. Amongst the students, Paramjeet Singh won the first prize while the second prize was bagged by Karan Kumar. The third prize was shared by Akshat Aggarwal, Apurva Mishra and Abhishek Sharma. In the Faculty category, the first price was won by Manu Rajput, Demonstrator Architecture Assistantship. The second prize was shared amongst Itika Sharma and Vickey Sharma, both Demonstrator in Electrical Engineering and the third prize was also shared amongst Navdeep sharma, Demonstrator Automobile Engineering and Viney Kumar, Instructor of the institute. The co-ordinators for the programme were Jasdeep Kaur, Shokat Ali, Ajay Thapa and Akash Dasgotra, faculty of college.
Earlier, various activities like online national level essay writing competition on various themes entitled Yoga the key to wellness;Yoga for stress management; Role of Yoga in healthy lifestyle; Yoga for holistic development, Role of Yoga in Covid-19 pandemic“. About 72 participants were students from Utter Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tripura, Gujrat and J&K. Online Poster making competition among college students in which about 18 students participated actively and submitted their posters online. National level e-quiz on Yoga and Asanas, in which about 126 participants from Utter Pradesh , J&K, Tamil Naidu, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, Assam, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh of various schools, colleges and universities.
International Yoga Day celebrated in Ladakh
Leh, June 21: The International Yoga Day, which has been celebrated on a global scale since 2015, was celebrated all over UT Ladakh today. Following this years’ theme of ‘Yoga at home and Yoga with family’ everyone performed yoga at their homes with their families.
Chief Executive Councillor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh Gyal P Wangyal joined by his family performed yoga at his residence in Ladakh.
Similarly, Dy. Chairman Tsering Sandup, Executive Councillor Agriculture LAHDC Leh Phuntsog Stanzin and Executive Councillor Minority LAHDC Leh Mumtaz Hussain also performed yoga at their residence.
Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal performed yoga at his residence in Ladakh.
Advisor to LG UT Ladakh Umang Narula performed yoga asanas at his residence.
Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas performed various asanas of yoga along with his family at his residence. Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya performed yoga at his residence by following this year’s theme of yoga at home.
District Officers of various departments and general public of Leh district performed yoga at their home with their families.
Similarly, following this year’s theme, the International Yoga Day was also observed at homes with families at all the Sub-divisions of Changthang, Nubra and Khaltse under the supervision of SDMs.
Kargil celebrates 6th International Yoga Day
Prominent persons, volunteers, youth, students, families participate with enthusiasm
KARGIL JUNE 21, 2020: Like other parts of the country, the 6th International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across Kargil district here today.
Since in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation no major official yoga gathering or official function was held, a series of yoga exercise sessions restricted to home with family were held at the District Headquarters as well as the Sub Divisional and Tehsil levels.
To mark the day, under the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” a number of prominent persons including the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan , Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Additional DC Kargil Tsering Motup, heads of political and social organizations and elected representatives performed yoga at their respective homes with families while ensuring to maintain proper social distancing norms.
Meanwhile, District Officers, Physical Instructors of Youth Services and Sports Department, Volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), youth and different families enthusiastically performed Yoga Asanas and ‘pranayama’ (breathing exercise).
Speaking on the occasion, the CEC Kargil while highlighting the importance of yoga as a form of exercise in maintaining physical and mental fitness and to bring harmony between mind and body urged upon people to make it an integral part of their lives.
Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi while highlighting the importance of yoga during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation said that it helps in boosting the immunity of the human body to fight with different ailments and people should make it a habit to practice yoga as an integral part of their lives.
In his message to people on Yoga Day, Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan urged youngsters as well as the elderly people to practice yoga regularly which has a lot of health benefits associated with it including physical and psychological well being.
DC Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary in his message said that International Yoga Day is an ideal occasion to reiterate our commitment towards the safeguard and promotion of the intrinsic values of the Indian civilization.
The DC said that Yoga is a best all round physical exercise to bring positive changes in the physical and mental development of individuals and need of the hour is to promote yoga among the younger generation as well as in the families.
As a part of the 6th Yoga Day celebrations, a video yoga contest was held among the school children of the district wherein 9 entries were received by the District Administration.
The video entries for the video yoga contest included different video clips on Yoga Asanas and ‘pranayama’ (breathing exercise) from Bilquees Tabassum, Student of Class VII Government Girls Middle School Akchamal, Zaheer Abass Student of Class UKG Unity Public School Minjee, Shujaat Ali Student of Class V Mutaharry Public School Akchamal, Muhammad Hassan, Muhammad Hussain and Rehana Habib of Class UKG, Class IV and Class UKG respectively- students of Jaffaria Academy of Modern Education (JAME) Kargil, Muhammad Baqir Student of Class X Government Higher Secondary School Pashkum, Kunzes Dolkar Student of Class LKG Rigjung Public School Baroo, Kargil and Stanzin Skaldan Student of Class X of Spring Dales Public School Wakha Mulbekh Kargil.
Among the above participants, Muhammad Baqir Student of Class X Government Higher Secondary School Pashkum bagged the first prize while as Stanzin Skaldan Student of Class X of Spring Dales Public School Wakha Mulbekh Kargil and Kunzes Dolkar Student of Class LKG Rigjung Public School Baroo, Kargil were adjudicated the 2nd and 3rd prize winner respectively.
Meanwhile, the jury decided to give away the 4th prize to Muhammad Hussain student of Jaffaria Academy of Modern Education (JAME), Kargil.
The members of the jury under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil comprising of the Chief Education Officer Kargil, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, Assistant Director Information Kargil and District Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kargil also decided to give away certificates of merit and cash prize of Rs 3000, 2000, 1500 and 1000 in favor of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prize winners respectively.
It was also decided that certificates of participation would be given to all other participants.
The certificates and prizes to the participants would be given at a later date which would be communicated to the prize winners and participants in advance.
Shrine Board organises Yoga at Sports Complex
KATRA, JUNE 21 – As part of celebration of the 6th International Day of Yoga, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised yoga asanas and pranayam at its Sports Complex at Katra by maintaining adequate social distancing.
Employees of the Board and sports persons of the Sports Complex performed a series of asanas and pranayam under the supervision of yoga experts. The yoga sessions were also organised at the Bhawan and Bhairon as part of the celebration of International Yoga Day.
In view of the present situation due to Covid-19, the employees of the Board and their families also performed yoga at their homes.
