Srinagar, June 20: Three more COVID-19 positive patients died in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday taking the overall toll of deaths due to pandemic to four in the day and total 80 deaths in the Union Territory so far.

The three new deaths include 65-year-old man from Kanihama, Budgam, an 80-year- old woman from  Khudwani area of Kulgam and a 45-year-old woman from Safa Kadal, Srinagar.

Officials sources told, that  a 65-year-old man from Budgam was admitted at SKIMS in Medical emergency as a case of bilateral community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) on Friday and he died during night at 1:30 am

“His samples were tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and reports came positive on Saturday”, he said, adding that “The person died due to cardiopulmonary arrest.”

Dr Nazir Choudary Medical Superintendent at SMHS said that an 80-year-old from Kulgam with chest and kidney related ailments died at hospital on Saturday. “The woman was admitted at SMHS on June 18 and on same day, she was tested positive,” he said. “Her relatives have taken the body forcibly from the hospital.”

He said in this regard district administration including police and CMO has been informed and they will look into the issue.

Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent at CD hospital said that a woman aged 45-years who was admitted at SMHS and after testing positive and was shifted to CD hospital on June 14 died in an ICU ward today. “She was suffering from diabetes and heart ailments,” the doctor said.

Earlier in the day,  a  55- year -old female from Pulwama who was tested positive for COVID-19 died at SKIMS on Saturday morning. Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS had told KNO a 55- year -old woman who was referred from SKIMS on June 16  died this morning.

Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal officer for COVID-19 at SKIMS said that the woman Pulwama, who was referred as a case of Meningioma with Obstructive sleep apnea passed away at SKIMS at 6:45 am due to cardiopulmonary arrest.

With two more deaths, the death toll of COVID- 19 infected persons in J&K has reached to 80 including 71 from Kashmir and nine from Jammu division—(KNO)
