Jammu: In order to commemorate International Yoga Day 2020 and to widely propagate the idea of Yoga during covid-19 pandemic threat, troops and families of Rising Star Corps are gearing up with series of multiple Yoga activities in coming days. Yoga sessions in units, at Star hill, at mobile platforms and also with Pets and nature are being organized at various levels.
Yoga plays an immense role in building of immunity at unit level. In order to adopt Yoga into daily routine of troops, a Hybrid Yoga-cum-Cardio exercise routine consisting of “Yogasanas” has been developed for troops. The restricted travel, panic over the risk of infection, continuous flow of negative news and worries on families safety due to corona pandemic are all adding to anxiety in present scenario. Many yoga poses have been proven in managing blood pressure thereby reducing the anxiety symptoms.
The current year’s theme of “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” propagated by a Vehicle Based Yoga Promotion Drive delivering the message of upcoming celebrations of International Yoga Day through audio announcements and by performing a few yoga ‘Asanas’ at numerous public and residential locations in Yol Military station. Yoga enthusiasts of Rising Star Corps carried out a trek-cum-Yoga session at Star Hill in Yol Cantonment.
The families of the soldiers have been most affected due to COVID lockdown. Pets have been integral part of families since ages. The unique bond shared between the human and pet allows the pet to sense and emulate the emotional state of the owner. However, the anxiety and stress generated in present COVID-19 scenario has put everyone on the high end of stress spectrum. Regular yoga sessions have been carried out for families along with pets and the participation was overwhelming.
The most effective Yoga practice has been seen in Transit Camp Quarantine centre at Yol Cantt. Yoga has been found to be an effective stress buster and immunity booster. Sessions are being conducted in morning and evening by duly incorporating all the physical distancing norms. The regular yoga along with the Pranayama has been found very effective in improving the happiness quotient.
