Srinagar, June 14: The number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir mounted to 5041 on Sunday as 163 fresh cases that include 10 CRPF personnel five cops and a baby tested positive for the deadly virus in the UT. The pandemic also claimed the lives of two persons in the day, taking the total number of deaths due to the virus to 59

Officials told, that among the fresh cases,  92 were tested positive at SKIMS, 11 at JVC Bemina,2 at Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur and rest at other hospitals

Among 163 new cases, 135 belong to Kashmir division while as 28 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 3878 including 1978 recoveries and 52 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 1163 including 411 recoveries and 7 deaths

The officials said that a total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2593 including 1848 from Kashmir division and 745 from Jammu division.They further added that among new cases 32 are travelers and 120 more patients were discharged after their recovery.

Cases tested positive in J&K include 5 from Anantnag, 16 from Kulgam, 10 from Srinagar, 11 from Budgam, 9 from Kupwara, 45 from Shopian, 3 from Baramulla, 3 from Bandipora and 33 from Pulwama in Kashmir division while as 28 from Jammu division include include 6 each from Jammu and Doda districts, 3 from Udhampur, 4 from Kuthua,  8 from Samba and one from Rajouri

Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS Dr G H Yatoo said that out of 1867 samples tested at SKIMS, 92 were tested positive.

He said that among 92 new cases, 39 are from Shopian, 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Anantnag, 08 from Kupwara, 05 from Srinagar, 03 from Bandipora, 02 each from Baramulla and Pulwama and one from Budgam

New cases include a 11 month old baby from Srinagar, a doctor from SKIMS, 10 CRPF men besides 5 cops, officials said.

Dr Reyaz Untoo, Principal JVC Bemina said that among 327 samples from Budgam that were tested 09 were found positive while as among 254 samples from Shopian that were tested, 02 were found positive.

He further added that 10 more patients were discharged from the hospital after complete recovery taking tally of discharged patients to 335 while as 99 are still undergoing treatment at the hospital

Moreover 14 major surgeries of covid-19 positive pregnant ladies were conducted at the hospital besides that 15 normal deliveries were also managed at the hospital, he said

Meanwhile, with two more deaths on Sunday, the death toll due to deadly coronavirus has mounted to 59 in Jammu and Kashmir

The patients who died on Sunday include 85-year-old man from Darepora Kralpora Kupwara who died at CD hospital and 69-year-old man from Gandhi Nagar Jammu who died at GMC Jammu.

Dr Saleem Tak Medical Superintendent at CD hospital told that an elderly patient who was admitted at CD hospital on Saturday died today

He said that patient was suffering from Chronic Kidney disease besides other ailments. Doctors from GMC Jammu said that an elderly man from Gandhi Nagar died at GMC Jammu on Sunday morning.

He was suffering from Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, besides other comorbidities, they said. Pertinently, four patients who were tested positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday.

Srinagar district with 14 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 11, Kulgam eight, Anantnag six, five in Shopian, Jammu four, Kupwara four, two each in Pulwama and Budgam while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri.

As per officials figures, 631 positive cases including 08 deaths and 338 recoveries are from Kulgam, 515 including 11 deaths and 166 recoveries are from Baramulla, 525 including 13 deaths and 158 recoveries are from Srinagar, 489 including 376 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Anantnag, 538 including 294 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Shopian, 397 including 287 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Kupwara, 239 including 174 recoveries and 01 death are from Bandipora, 239  including 112 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Budgam, 245 including 33 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Pulwama and 62 including 40 recoveries are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 273 including 137 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Jammu district, 195 including 55 recoveries are from Ramban, 158 including 39 recoveries and 01 death is from Udhampur, 159 including 71 recoveries are from Kathua, 104 including 30 recoveries from Poonch, 66 including one death and 12 recoveries are from Rajouri, 63 including 23 recoveries and 01 death are from Doda, 24 including 11 recoveries are from Reasi and 22 including 04 recoveries are from Kishtwar

As per the daily information bulletin, 235,200 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 40,634 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2593 persons are in hospital isolation while as 31 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 139,201 persons have completed surveillance period and 52,682 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 266,163 samples are available

Out of 266,163 the number of samples tested negative stands at 261,122 while as 5041 have been tested positive, among them 2593 are active and 2389 persons have recovered and 59 persons have died.
