Shopian, June 13: District Administration Shopian dispatched 117 stranded migrant labourers to Katra Railway Station today for their further journey to their home state.
The Labourers from the State of Bihar were dispatched in a fleet of five buses in first phase. Stranded labourers from other states will be dispatched in subsequent phases. The buses were sanitized before their boarding by the stranded people and proper physical distancing was maintained inside the buses.
Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Chaudhary Mohamed Yasin informed that financial assistance of Rs 500 was provided to each person before their boarding of the buses. Besides the stranded persons were provided breakfast, packaged food and water. Masks were also distributed among them.
Assistant Lobour Commissioner, Mohammad Majid Tantray and Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Muazzam Ali oversaw the complete process of dispatching of the interstate migrants.
