Kulgam : 13 June 2020: Based on a credible input about the presence of Militants, a Cordon and search operation was launched by Kulgam police, 19 RR & CRPF at Zadoora,Nepora Mirbazar of District kulgam.
As the search operation was going on, the search party confirmed about the two militants hidding in the target house.
Later the militants were given an opportunity to surrender by the joint operation party by making announcements on loudspeakers, but the hiding militants hurled a grenade and fired indiscriminately on the joint forces, the fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, two unidentified militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
It was a clean operation, no collateral damage took place during the encounter.
Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to co-operate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared.
